Lamlash is just 3 miles south of the ferry terminal. It is a village of historical importance in Arran and home to many of the islands longest established services. The bay, a sheltered and natural harbour has catered for its maritime users for many decades. Paterson Arran has its main production and retail outlet in the village and there are a many places to eat and drink along the seafront. The Ross Road, Arrans only single track road (and therefore bus-free) connects to Sliddery from Lamlash and the views of Holy Isle and the sea are worth the 9 mile cross-country trip. Lamlash is also the starting point for a visit to Holy Isle, the Buddhists retreat, access to this nature reserve is strictly through the official ferry from Lamlash.
It is also the administrative centre for the Island, housing the local council offices and the police station. The High School for all the Islands students is here as well.
Lamlash has some of the steepest greens on its Golf course and the bay now has become an Underwater Nature Preservation site and is now a No-Fishing-Zone.

Set in the beautiful village of Lamlash on the Isle of Arran, this traditional Scottish hotel with its gables and whitewashed walls looks directly across the sea to the Holy Isle. To the side is the hotel's historic walled garden which also faces the sea and is an ideal spot to relax with a coffee or a drink or simply to enjoy the view.
The Glenisle Restaurant delights in presenting fine food in a charming and relaxed atmosphere. Exposed sandstone walls and polished floorboards set the tone for a relaxed and friendly meal. After dinner enjoy a glass of Arran whisky in our Snug or put your feet up in the comfortable Residents' Lounge.
The entire hotel has been recently refurbished in a fresh style which compliments the age of the building and its island location. Most of our 13 rooms have direct or indirect sea views and all are en-suite. There is a choice of double (most with king-size beds), twin, single and family rooms.
